Claret is mostly thought to be made of Cabernet Sauvignon but this is not the case most claret is blended with other grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon,Merlot and Cabernet Franc sometimes they will also use Malbec and Petit verdot.Cabernet sauvignon is not the prodominant grape varity for claret it is infact merlot,Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are very simillar in taste you may find hints of blackcurrent ,oak,dark chocolate ,tobacco,mint,olives and minerals. The appearence of bordeaux wine is normally deep in colour which changes from brick to purple with age.
